In terms of sound, the protagonists dialogue is spoken with high confidence, enhancing the presentation of her strength and power. Also, leading up to the dragons fire and the battle there is this non diegetic music that has a slow rhythm and a low tone of the beating of what sounds like a drum, which increases in volume, the female silences the music with her dialogue of a single word; this emphasises her power, as she dominates even the music which is edited into the scene. This is also highlighted when she is talking to the army after the battle, before she speaks there is only the ambience that can be heard, and then her voice, this is a poignant aspect of the scene as it shows her strength and confidence as a woman and the controversial role she holds.
The camera shots are key to portraying the woman as withholding the traits she has. For example, she is shot, mainly, using low angle shots, looking up at her which emphasises her power, as well as this she, for the majority of shots, remains in the centre of the shot, highlighting her importance and significance as a woman in the scene, emphasising her strength and power over others. This is evident when she walks away from the man, towards the army,
"In the scene where XXXXXX happens, we hear a low hum-based non-diegetic sound. This, together with the rapid editing from when Daenerys starts to talk to the army commanding them to attack their masters, helps construct the fact that she is in command of the action about to take place"
ReplyDeleteThe formula really is:
1 - in the scene where XXXXX happens...
2 - identify the element(s) you're going to write about...
3 - write how these elements work together to construct the suggested representation.
4 - add a media theory (audience reading? male gaze? binary opposites?)
Thanks Sir! I will incorporate the formula into my writing
